One of the most challenging switches I made when transitioning from Orton Gillingham to EBLI was Vowel R. In OG I would teach this as one sound, for example car had two sounds /c/ /ar/. However in EBLI every sound is segmented. So car would be segmented /c/a/r/. This took me awhile to accept but now I see how important it is for each sound to be segmented. Sometimes the letter a says /o/ and that is okay! Check out this video that explains this so well!
